Black Pixel Studio is a digital engineering and creative studio in Addis Ababa. We have been building for organisations here and abroad since 2013.
Why we exist.
When we started in 2013, organisations in Ethiopia had two realistic options for digital work. They could take a low-cost local shortcut and get something that looked finished but could not be maintained, extended or even handed over. Or they could engage an international firm at a price that ruled it out for most of the market.
Neither option left the client owning what they had paid for. That is the gap the studio was built to close: the responsiveness and context of a local team, working to the technical standards international partners expect.
Since then the work has grown from design into full digital engineering — websites and storefronts, custom operational software, cloud infrastructure and brand systems. The principle has not changed. We build things that work, and then we hand them over.
Geography should not decide the quality of what you are able to build.

Migration, redirects, analytics and search registration handled. Then documentation, handover and ongoing support.
Led from Addis Ababa.
The studio is led by its founder, who still works on the delivery side of projects rather than only the commercial one.
